Arvin Joaquin

Si Arvin Joaquin ay isang award-winning journalist at editor. Bago maging bahagi ng OMNI News: Filipino, naglingkod siya bilang associate editor ng Xtra Magazine kung saan isinulat niya ang Digital Publishing Award-winning newsletter na Xtra Weekly. Nailathala ang mga akda niya sa iba’t ibang outlets sa Canada gaya ng Maclean’s, Huffington Post at Globe and Mail. Kinilala rin ang pag-uulat niya sa iba’t ibang organisasyon gaya ng National Magazine Awards, Canadian Association of Journalists, Canadian Online Publishing Awards at NLGJA: The Association of LGBTQ+ Journalists.

Arvin Joaquin is an award-winning journalist and editor. Prior to joining OMNI News Filipino, he was associate editor of Xtra Magazine, where he started the Digital Publishing Award-winning newsletter Xtra Weekly.  He has published articles in various outlets in Canada like Maclean’s, Huffington Post and Globe and Mail. His work has been recognized by the National Magazine Awards, Canadian Association of Journalists, Canadian Online Publishing Awards and NLGJA: The Association of LGBTQ+ Journalists.


Keisha Balatbat

Reporter


Si Keisha Balatbat ay isa sa mga reporter ng OMNI News Filipino sa Toronto.

Nagtapos ng Journalism sa Toronto Metropolitan University noong 2021, naging writer at editor din siya para sa On The Record at Her Campus. Mahilig siya sa musika, sining at kultura.

Keisha Balatbat is one of OMNI Filipino’s reporters in Toronto.
She graduated Journalism from Toronto Metropolitan University in 2021, and worked as a writer and editor for On the Record and Her Campus. Keisha’s passion lies in music, arts and culture.


Marieton Pacheco

Producer


Dating ABS-CBN reporter at anchor ang ngayo’y producer ng Omni News Filipino na si Marieton Pacheco. Naging correspondent ng The Filipino Channel (TFC) sa Canada, pinangunahan din niya ang programang Balitang Canada kasama ang iba pang mga mamamahayag mula sa iba’t ibang bahagi ng bansa. Bahagi siya ng International Visitor Leadership Program ng U.S. State Department noong 2008 at nagtapos ng MA Journalism sa Ateneo de Manila sa ilalim ng scholarship mula sa Konrad Adenauer Foundation. Mahigit dalawampung taon na siya sa media.

OMNI News Filipino producer Marieton Pacheco was a former reporter and anchor with ABS-CBN in the Philippines. She was a correspondent with ABS-CBN’s The Filipino Channel (TFC) in Canada for a decade, and also lead a team of other correspondents across the country to produce a weekly show called Balitang Canada. She was a recipient of the International Visitor Leadership Program from the U.S. State Department. She finished her MA Journalism at the Ateneo de Manila under a full grant from the Konrad Adenauer Foundation. She has been in media for more than 20 years.


Paula Saraza

Reporter


Toronto-based reporter ng OMNI News Filipino si Paula Saraza. Nagtapos ng Journalism sa Seneca College noong 2019. May mahigit limang taong karanasan sa pamamahayag kabilang ang pagiging reporter sa Ethnic Channels Group: Filipino TV sa mga programang F.Y.I., Balita Ngayon, at COVID-19 Weekly bago pumasok sa Omni TV. Si Paula ang nasa likod ng OMNI special documentary na ‘Little Manila’.

Paula Saraza is one of OMNI Filipino’s Toronto based reporters. She finished Journalism at Seneca College in 2019, and has been doing news for more than 5 years. She was a reporter for the Ethnic Channels Group’s Filipino TV on programs like F.Y.I., Balita Ngayon and COVID-19 Weekly prior to joining Omni. Paula’s recent work includes OMNI’s special documentary on ‘Little Manila’.


Rhea Santos

Videojournalist


Halos dalawang dekada sa larangan ng broadcasting sa Pilipinas, ipinagpatuloy ni Rhea Santos ang pagkalap at pagbabalita sa Canada sa OMNI Filipino. Nagtapos si Rhea ng Broadcast at Online Journalism sa BCIT. Hangad ni Rhea na mabigyan ng boses ang mga Pilipino at Filipino-Canadians sa mga isyu na mahalaga sa komunidad. 

With more than 20 years in broadcasting experience from the Philippines, Rhea Santos continues her journalism career in Canada with OMNI Filipino. She was a familiar face on Philippine TV having hosted Unang Hirit, a national morning show, for two decades. Rhea pursued further studies and graduated from BCIT’s Broadcast and Online Journalism program during the pandemic.


Ron Gagalac

Reporter


Mahigit 20 taon na sa broadcasting at journalism si Ron Gagalac. Dating correspondent ng ABS-CBN News at IBC-13 sa Pilipinas, at itinanghal na Reporter of the Year ng iba’t-ibang organisasyon noong 2015 at 2017. Nagtapos ng Masteral Degree sa Ateneo de Manila University. Mayroon din siyang Certificate sa Public Relations at Corporate Communications mula sa School of Media ng Seneca College sa Toronto.

Ron Gagalac has been in broadcasting and journalism for more than 20 years. He was a former correspondent with ABS-CBN News and IBC-13 in the Philippines, and was awarded Reporter of the Year by various organizations in 2015 and 2017. He finished his Masteral Degree at the Ateneo de Manila University. He also holds a Certificate in Public Relations and Corporate Communications at Seneca College’s School of Media in Toronto.


Theresa Barrera

Videojournalist


Dalawampung taon na sa TV at Radio Broadcasting sa Canada si Theresa Barrera. Siya ang kauna-unahang Pinay helicopter reporter sa Calgary (CHQR),  pinaka-unang Morning Show FM Radio Host sa Edmonton na may lahing Filipina (CJRY), at pinaka-unang Pinay na tagapagbalita sa CTV Morning Live sa Winnipeg (CKYDT). Nagtrabaho rin si Theresa bilang news anchor sa Greater Toronto (CJLF) at sa Metro Vancouver (CISF).  Nagtapos siya ng Radio Broadcast Management sa BCIT, at Television Broadcast Arts sa NAIT. Siya rin ay kabilang sa mga hukom sa taunang Radio-Television Digital News Association of Canada Awards.

Theresa Barrera has been working in TV and radio broadcasting in Canada for 20 years. She was the first Filipino helicopter reporter in Calgary (CHQR), the first morning show FM radio host (CJRY)  in Edmonton with Filipino roots and the first Filipina reporter on CTV Morning Live in Winnipeg (CKYDT). Theresa also worked as a news anchor in the Greater Toronto (CJLF) and Metro Vancouver (CISF) areas. She graduated with a Radio Broadcast Management degree at the BCIT, and Television Broadcast Arts at NAIT. She is one of the judges for the annual Radio-Television Digital News Association of Canada Awards.


Theresa Redula

Si Theresa Redula ay isang reporter ng OMNI News Filipino sa Toronto. Mahigit apat na taon na sa pamamahayag – makikita ang kanyang mga report at photojournalism sa Niagara News, Niagara Falls Review, The St. Catharines Standard at The Welland Tribune. Ipinagpatuloy niya ang pag-aaral sa Canada at nagtapos ng Journalism sa Niagara College noong 2020. Layon ni Theresa na iulat ang mga isyung mahalaga sa komunidad, at iangat ang boses ng mga Pilipino sa Canada.

She has been in media for more than 4 years, with reports published on Niagara News, Niagara Falls Review, The St. Catharines Standard and the Welland Tribune. She finished Journalism at Niagara College in 2020. Theresa hopes to continue reporting on issues close to the community and elevate the voice of Filipinos in Canada.
