Ahead of the Pope’s visit to Canada in July 2022, OMNI NEWS sat down with Cindy Blackstock, Executive Director of First Nations Child & Family Caring Society of Canada, to look at calls for greater transparency of all Vatican records of this country’s residential school system.
Blackstock delivers a poignant and positive plea for governments, churches and Canadians to do better when it comes to reconciling Indian Residential school history. She says the genocide that was taking place was not a secret, but rather a familiar narrative which waxed and waned throughout the century.
