York Region daces surge in violent crimes

A new report from the York Region Police indicates that the region is experiencing an increase in violent crime in 2024, with a 92% rise in shootings and a 106% rise in carjackings this year. With 15 homicides, including 5 since July 25, public safety is a major concern. York Region Police Deputy Chief Álvaro Almeida shares his concerns.
